Ron and Carol Trimberger, Owners

Ron and Carol Trimberger inspire an educational and interactive spirit in their store, Door County Interiors & Design. They believe their primary role is to educate customers about the abundant furnishings and interior design options available in the store and resource books.

“We are interested in our present customers’ and future customers’ lives. And our main function here is to help people,“ Ron says. “We do this by showing them different products.”

Carol adds, “We are here to give them advice-through our knowledge of the many products we work with. That’s what we are sharing. ”

Here, the advice comes with free coffee and treats. In other words, it’s a welcoming environment. The Trimbergers are almost always in the store, greeting people and available to answer questions such as: How is this chair made? What are the green qualities of flooring? How can I keep the glare out of my great room?

So, people truly feel at ease and grow more informed as they browse the furnishings showroom or explore the vast samples of flooring, window coverings, countertops and much more.

Home Furnishings

Jim Marquardt, Home Furnishings Manager

Jim Marquardt brings wonderful experience and accomplishments to his role as home furnishings manager. He owned his own company, Bay Furniture, in Sturgeon Bay for 15 years and has also worked with companies such as La-Z- Boy, Sealy and Flexsteel.

He believes furniture is a means of expression. “Furniture is a reflection of yourself and how you want your home and room to look,” Jim says.

Jim assists customers with their selections and works with manufacturers as well. He creates the look for Door County Interiors & Design’s outstanding 10,000 square foot showroom floor. Jim also teams up with his co-workers-interior designers and project managers-to create just the right style for customers’ homes.

Door County Interiors & Design carries more 30 furniture lines for living rooms, great rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, media rooms and more. Included are pieces that give a contemporary-casual look, coastal-beach house décor or rustic-lodge feel.

“When it comes to furnishings, everyone has an individual taste, style and need,” Jim says.

Interior design/project management
Sue Bryzek, independent interior designer

Sue Bryzek, an independent interior designer, brings enthusiasm to every project--from small to large. Her many strengths include follow-through and a keen eye for quality.

Sue most recently worked for nine years at another home furnishings store in Door County. At Door County Interiors & Design, she focuses on residential design and consults with customers on furnishings, decorating style, accessories and a color palette using fabrics, paint and upholstery.

“There are very good resources here, and we can take people from the beginning blueprint through the entire interior design process to accessorizing,” Sue says.

Taking risks is also important for homeowners, but it may be difficult. An interior designer can provide the guidance, according to Sue.

“My main objective is to be there for people who need the design help and to encourage them to take a little risk and to think outside the box.”

Cynthia DeLaMer, Design Consultant

Cynthia DeLaMer, design consultant, knows how to ask just the right questions of her customers. By getting to know what they envision for their homes, Cynthia helps people make dreams reality.

“I encourage people to think about the type of room, decorating style, material they may want to use and color of the window treatment,” Cynthia says.

Cynthia is also prepared to show customers how window coverings can help them save on home energy costs. “Some products work to keep heat inside during winter and out in the summer,” Cynthia says.

She holds a master’s degree from Aurora University, an undergraduate degree from North Central College, Naperville, Ill., and is a certified home stager.

Mary Ann Miller, Interior Designer

Mary Ann Miller knows just how important interior design is to business success.

At Door County Interiors & Design, she is a commercial and contract interior designer. She has worked with many Door County commercial clients during her more than 15 years of experience in the industry, including Landmark Resort, Baileys Harbor Yacht Club, Glidden Lodge and Newport Resort.

She prides herself on helping lodging owners and other executives make interior design decisions in a stress-free way.

“I like to work as a team with customers, and then we achieve results that are truly satisfying,” Mary Ann says.

She holds an associate degree in interior design from Fox Valley Technical College.

Flooring

Sandy McConkey, Project/ Flooring Manager

Sandy McConkey blends sensitivity for working with homeowners with her solid experience in the evolving interior design field.

From flooring to wallcoverings and everything in-between (think cabinets, countertops, backsplashes and more), Sandy is prepared to help. She is the right choice--whether you are building a new home, remodeling or thinking about the look for your business.

Sandy has 30 years of experience including work as a design consultant, supplier and installer in various areas of the country.

She has counseled people in all sizes of houses, condos, apartments and commercial buildings. So, what could they possibly have in common?

“An interior must be true to the homeowner,” Sandy says. “It’s my pleasure to help people discover or express their design style.”

Johann Dumsick, Flooring Administrator

Ask Johann Dumsick what she does at Door County Interiors & Design, and you quickly get a sense of how efficient and effective she is. Johann checks flooring as it arrives to make sure it meets the customer’s expectations.

She also explores flooring styles-vast species of wood, green choices, carpeting and rugs--for customers and her teammates. She has built good working relationships with quality flooring manufacturers and installers.

“People will ask me about options, and I know just where to look them up and see what prices will be. Door County Interiors & Design is a nice place to work,” Johann says.

Cara Easley, Flooring Design Consultant

Cara Easley brings a fresh and artistic perspective to the Flooring Department. She is also an artist, who paints, draws and designs.

Here at Door County Interiors & Design, Cara focuses on residences, taking what her customers envision and creating the design to fit their budget. She has a strong sense of color and uses that to create custom tile layouts for homeowners.

Cara is also an expert on green products in the store and, especially, the many environmentally friendly flooring options available.

“A lot of carpet we carry is made from recycled plastic bottles,” Cara says. “And when people are looking for wood flooring they look for bamboo. Bamboo grows so fast, so it is renewable,” she says.

Cara has a bachelor of arts degree in studio art from UW-Oshkosh.
